The virgin birth of Christ is an unmistakable reminder that salvation can never come through human effort, but must be the work of God himself.
Following Jesus means complete trust and absolute obedience, death to our pride, denial of self, and a willingness to embrace inconvenience.
Choosing the route to please the people around us over choosing to obey God is always choosing our pride because we care more about how we appear than we do about pleasing God.
Serving Jesus is rarely convenient. You don’t serve because it’s convenient, but because you’re committed to Christ.
Your trust in God should not be based on how well he has fulfilled your expectations, but instead on how he has fulfilled his promises - primarily that Jesus Christ was born of a virgin and he is the Messiah who came to save the world of their sins.
Jesus Christ has always been, currently is right now and will be forever, fully God.
The only way to have the strength to follow Christ is to see what Christ has done for you.
The only thing that will give you the power to forsake it all is to see that the joy of the treasure is worth more than the pain of sacrifice.
